FAQs

Q: What type of oil/lotion/lubricant do you use?

A: Organic Avocado Oil, originally bottled in glass. I only buy one bottle at a time to make sure it’s fresh. Avocado oil is made from the avocado fruit/meat, not from the seed. So it’s: organic, vegan, nut-free, seed oil free, and very fresh. Free of as many allergens as I am aware of. If you have any special needs in this regard, feel free to reach out and I’m happy to talk about it.

Q: What should I wear?

A: If you’re able, go ahead and come in wearing clothes like you would to a yoga class: allowing for both freedom of movement and modesty. Women usually wear yoga pants and men usually wear shorts or sweat pants. A sports bra can be a good idea for the ladies, but if you’re able to wear one that is not so restrictive around the ribcage, that would be helpful. You may end up undressing for the service, but it can be helpful for assessment at the beginning.

Q: How can I best extend the benefits of my massage?

A: Think of your massage like a jumpstart to a new you! While it may be tempting to shrink back to creature comforts, remember, those are what brought you in in the first place! I really do want you to improve and thrive in your life. So say no to the bad habits, and say yes to good ones: adequate hydration with clean pure water (add another liter per day, sipped slowly throughout), fresh living foods like salads and fruits, take that yoga class you’ve always wanted to, make space for meditation or journalling in your daily routine. More than likely, you have something on your mind that you’ve always wanted to do to improve your health – go for it!

Q: Can I work out after my massage?

A: Consider your massage your workout for the day. Gentle movement or a nuturing yoga class is fine afterwards, but it’s best to give your mind and body a rest afterwards. Simply hydrating, grounding in nature, enjoying the present moment, being with people you love, is all I would recommend.

Q: How often should I get a massage?

A: Monthly appointments are ideal for most people and it’s a great place to start for everyone. With time, you’ll get a soon sense of your body’s rhythms and realize if you need to come in more often, I find it’s best when you come to that conclusion on your own. You’re welcome to ask me my opinion based on your health and conditions. But ultimately, making the space in your life and in your nervous system to receive healing more often is a personal decision. I do see many clients every 1, 2, or 3 weeks as well.
